Sleep Study Tests

Sleep studies form a vital part of cardiac and respiratory assessment due to causative and compounding impact of sleep disorders. At CardioScan Aotearoa, we offer level 2 and 3 sleep studies and level 4 oximetry tests.
All of our studies are carried out at home using different combinations of sensors. In addition to diagnosis, our sleep studies determine a treatment plan that can be implemented by our team of practitioners or by the patient's own provider. It also might be used to adjust treatment.

- Level 2 Sleep Study
- Level 3 Sleep Study
- Level 4 Oximetry Test
The Level 2 Sleep Study is a home-based polysomnography that monitors physiological parameters which can include respiratory flow, saturation and heart rate with newer devices looking at EEG, EMG, EOG and limb movement. It is used to diagnose moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and other sleep disorders. In addition to diagnosis, our sleep studies determine a treatment plan that can be implemented by our team of practitioners or by the Patient's own provider. It also might be used to adjust treatment.
A Level 3 Sleep Study is a home-based sleep study focusing on breathing related issues, monitoring oxygen levels, airflow and heart rate and is used to diagnose Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA).
This test is ideal for patients who have a high probability of having sleep apnoea but do not have any other complex medical conditions.
A Level 4 Oximetry is a basic, screening level sleep study that monitors the heart rate and blood oxygen saturation levels overnight.
All Sleep Studies are reviewed by a sleep scientist and signed-off by a New Zealand based Sleep Specialist. Â
Finalised Sleep study reports are available in BeatBox (our cloud-based reporting platform).

Respiratory Tests
Respiratory tests are essential when assessing a patient’s lung function by measuring key aspects of breathing, including air volume, airflow speed, and gas exchange efficiency. These tests help diagnose conditions such as asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and pulmonary fibrosis.
Holter Monitoring
CardioScan Aotearoa offers Holter monitoring and reporting solutions, with multi-channel options and the ability to complete studies for up to 14 days. All electrodes are breathable, patient-friendly and also available in paediatric and neonate sizes.
