Exercise Tolerance Test

An Exercise Tolerance Test (ETT) is a non-invasive testing method of detecting heart disease which may otherwise not be evident without exercise. A 12-lead ECG forms part of the test.
CardioScan Aotearoa’s exercise tolerance test reports are signed off by a New Zealand clinical specialist.
Service and Device Features
All exercise tolerance test reports are QA checked and signed off by a New Zealand clinical specialist
The exercise tolerance test provided at CardioScan Aotearoa is a non-invasive method of monitoring an ECG, heart rate and blood pressure during exercise. It is a great way to assess exercise capacity and is low-cost and technically simple. However, it has lower sensitivity (68%) and specificity (70 - 77%) and can be less accurate in women or patients with baseline ECG abnormalities.
All Exercise Tolerance Test studies are reviewed by a Cardiac Physiologist and signed-off by a New Zealand based Cardiologist.

Exercise Stress Echo
The patient will be asked to complete a regular treadmill exercise test, while their ECG, heart rate and blood pressure are recorded. After the treadmill exercise test, the patient will be quickly moved back to the patient bed and the heart will be looked at again for any sign of abnormal activities.
Respiratory Tests
Respiratory tests are essential when assessing a patient’s lung function by measuring key aspects of breathing, including air volume, airflow speed, and gas exchange efficiency. These tests help diagnose conditions such as asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and pulmonary fibrosis.
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
CardioScan Aotearoa’s 24 hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) and reporting service provide interval measurement over 24 hours, for a full diagnostic assessment of a patients blood pressure, accommodating circadian rhythm and white coat or masked hypertension.
